Anyway, the show was a great success, a ton of people came out, and a good time was had by all.

I apologize for the lack of updates in the past few months.  I’ve actually been hard at work preparing for a solo show that recently opened in Los Angeles, at Silver Factory Studios. 
Preparation came right down to the wire. Getting my work finished, packaged, and shipped before I had to catch my flight was a little too close for comfort, so I didn’t really manage to get many decent photos of my work before I had to leave.

If you’re in the Portland area, you can check them out in person at Radio Room 1101 NE Alberta Street, Portland, OR 97211.  The exhibit will run until May 30th 2012.

The Gallery is very focused on large scale pieces and bold presentations, so I felt like I had to get big and colorful for this show.  Each of these pieces are 48″ x 48″, which is a bit larger than I’m used to, but through all the cursing and frustration, I’m really happy with the outcome.  Large pieces just seem to command your attention, and I feel like these certainly do.
All of these pieces are currently available, so feel free to inquire about them if you’re interested.

This is probably my most time consuming piece yet. 
I was recently commissioned by a skateboard and roller derby shop that is opening up here in Portland,  to paint the front of their sales counter.  Since they’re still building it, I was able to get the plywood before it was built into the cabinet.  I can’t wait to see it when it’s finished.
The skate shop is called Flywheels.  They’re located on NE 21st Ave and Alberta St, in NE Portland.
You will also be able to pick up my hand made old school decks there.

Anyway, I’ve always loved this photo of Steve Olson.  The guy had style for days, and he’s a pretty rad artist as well.

My friend Evan always gives me awesome commissions to do.  This time he wanted a stormtrooper.  I’ve thought about doing one before, but his idea to incorporate the logo for the Galactic Empire was exactly what it needed.

I generally do a large date in Roman Numerals on the painting’s edge, but this time I just had to go with standard numbers and paint the 2 darker, so that the 011 stands out.  This wouldn’t have worked if I’d done this last year.
